The AT-XP5/H pairs the AT-XP5 audiophile DJ cartridge, pre-mounted on the AT-HS6BK headshell, for high-quality specialist DJ playback. The AT-XP series cartridges provide high-quality sound for vinyl DJs — offering the features of a DJ cartridge but with a hi-fi sound — making them suited to the stage and club DJ who prioritises sound quality. A VM dual magnet construction and durable, robust design are combined with a carbon fibre-reinforced ABS cantilever and nylon wire suspension for precise tracking. The elliptical diamond stylus follows the groove modulation with greater precision than a conical stylus, offering improved frequency and phase responses while reducing distortion, and the cartridge comes fitted onto the headshell's 9 g aluminium die-cast body. The cartridge is compatible with the ATN-XP3 and ATN-XP7 replacement styli, and is also available as a single cartridge (AT-XP5) and replacement stylus (ATN-XP5).

The XP series electromagnetic engine-body is fully compatible with all replacement styli of the VM95 Series and delivers more output voltage than a VM95 Series cartridge, improving compatibility with the phono inputs of professional DJ mixers. The VM95 Series engine-body is in turn compatible with the three replacement styli of the AT-XP series DJ cartridge, though the XP series body delivers the higher output. The suspension design and compliance of the XP series styli have been optimised for intensive DJing, including manual cueing and back-cueing, whereas the VM95 Series suspension and compliances are designed for optimum audiophile reproduction. Typical tracking force with XP series styli is three grams, as opposed to two grams for VM95 Series styli.
